Operated by Center for Housing Resources, Inc., a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting affordable housing, Emergency Home Repair uses its surplus revenue to fund free emergency home repairs for low-income elderly and/or disabled people. was founded in 1985 by philanthropist Curtis Meadows and the Meadows
Foundation. CHR works to improve
the quantity and quality of affordable housing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
CHR develops affordable housing, provides technical assistance to other
developers, and home repairs.
The CHR Home Repair and Weatherization program has repaired almost 6,000 homes of low-income elderly and/or disabled people since 1990. Our Emergency Home Repair program, funded largely by a one-time grant from the Meadows Foundation, has provided free emergency repairs to qualified homeowners since December 2001.
